Microsoft’s cloud unit, Azure, experienced its most rapid growth in four years, with an accelerating pace indicating that the company’s AI and computing services are gaining traction among customers. Azure cloud revenue increased by 43 percent in the fiscal fourth quarter, as reported by the company in a statement on Wednesday. That represented the swiftest quarterly growth since the beginning of 2022, exceeding analysts’ average projection of a 40 percent increase. Azure revenue exceeded $100 billion for the first time in the financial year that concluded in June. Chief Financial Officer Amy Hood indicated that she anticipates an acceleration in growth for the cloud unit in the current quarter, projecting it to reach approximately 45 percent. “Demand continues to exceed available supply,” she stated during a conference call with analysts.
Microsoft on Wednesday indicated that it anticipates continued cash generation throughout its newly commenced fiscal 2027. The company also provided a capital expenditure forecast that falls short of Wall Street estimates, following an accounting adjustment related to data centre leases. The company also projected sales growth that surpassed expectations for its current fiscal first quarter. Overall, the metrics indicated that Microsoft’s substantial investments in AI were yielding positive results, alleviating investor apprehensions regarding the significant expenditures of one of the technology sector’s largest cash generators in its quest for profits that had not yet come to fruition.

We ourselves are using it,” Nadella said.
