US President Donald Trump on Monday asserted that Iran will be “blown off the face of the Earth” should they launch an attack on US vessels escorting stranded ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump’s statement coincided with reports of Iran attacking vessels being escorted through the Strait of Hormuz as part of ‘Project Freedom,’ initiated by the US Central Command at the behest of the US President.
Trump utilized his social media platform Truth Social to assert that Iran had launched attacks on several vessels, including a South Korean cargo ship, which was being navigated through the Strait that has effectively remained closed since the conflict with Iran commenced on February 28.Iran has directed criticism towards unrelated nations concerning the movement of ships, specifically referencing PROJECT FREEDOM and a South Korean cargo vessel. “Perhaps it’s time for South Korea to come and join the mission,” Trump stated.
The President of the United States announced that American forces have intercepted and destroyed seven small boats, while also encouraging South Korea to participate in the operation within the Hormuz Strait. We have intercepted seven small vessels, or as they prefer to refer to them, ‘fast’ vessels. It constitutes their sole remaining asset. Aside from the South Korean vessel, there has currently been no reported damage occurring in the Strait. The president announced, “Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Caine, will have a News Conference tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.”
The president stated that the US military buildup in the region is ongoing.”We possess a greater quantity of weapons and ammunition, and of a significantly superior quality compared to what we had previously,” Trump stated. Our equipment is of the highest quality. Our assets are distributed globally. We maintain a network of bases globally. They are fully equipped with the necessary apparatus. “We can utilize all of that, and we will, if necessary,” Trump stated.
